My name is Trisha Boese, and I'm thrilled to travel Egypt with you. My last trip to this beautiful country was 30+ years ago. I was a college student studying sociology and anthropology in Malta for a semester. During the fall break, we took a brief tour of Egypt. Since then, I have often thought of the magnitude of those pyramid rocks, still assembled and in formation for generations to come. I am enthralled with the royal families and the citizens who paid homage to their tombs. The culture and people of this place have a rich history that contributes to the imagination of this global community.

As a pastor in a Christian church, I am also struck by the circumstance of Jesus and his family who had to flee Israel, escaping a political power that hunted this "child of the prophesy". Jesus' formative years of family life happened in Egypt. As refugees, how were they welcomed in this country that became a home away from their ancestral home?

While we dig into the history of the country, I'm equally excited to take a cruise on the Nile, see the pyramids from a hot air balloon, and visit the markets with you. What a thrill to see the world as it is, and not what we can only imagine it to be.
