A Season of Gratitude

As we move through this season, we are filled with deep gratitude; for the journeys we’ve shared, the friends we’ve met along the way, and the hope that continues to guide us forward. Travel, at its heart, is about connection… to one another, to the land, and to the stories that remind us of our shared humanity. This fall, that sense of gratitude has felt especially meaningful.

The Holy Land is Open

We are cautiously optimistic and hopeful about the recent ceasefire in the Holy Land of Israel and the Palestinian Territories. We even have our first group set to travel there in May of 2026.

It has been a long 2-years of watching the devastation and violence in this special place. Our friends and family who live there are weary and yet, deeply resilient. We continue to pray for peace and a return to the vibrant pilgrimage travel that we love to share with all of you.

Watch for more opportunities to travel to this land of beautiful people and stories. We hope to have more opportunities starting in the Fall of 2026.

Scotland: A Tapestry of Friendship and Discovery

September brought us two wonderful groups exploring the breathtaking landscapes and heartfelt hospitality of Scotland.

Our very first yarn tour was a success! We learned about the wool industry and all of the beautiful, high-quality work that is being done with the product. The best part might have been all of the sheep, goats and dogs we got to visit and pet.

On a personal note, I want to thank our partner Kathy from Kathy’s Knits in Edinburgh. We visited her shop for a presentation and time for shopping. While we were there, I stepped outside to take a phone call from my son and daughter-in-law to celebrate the news of a baby girl due on Valentine’s Day 2026! The extra fun part was walking back into the shop to have Kathy celebrate with me by giving me a big hug and lots of smiles. She is obviously a grandma too!

Our other group traveling in Scotland was from Charlotte, NC. Their travel focus was learning about Scotland’s church expressions and the distinctions throughout history and today. These explorations ranged from a visit to the ancient abbey on the island of Iona to a visit at the more modern Cairns Church in Milngavie. Here, Rev. Andrew Frater told us beautiful stories of the work of the church and its people. The hospitality continued as we were graciously cared for by the ladies of the church who served us coffee and treats after our conversation. We are grateful for the time and welcome they provided for us!

Italy: A Feast for the Heart

October carried us south to Italy, where our travelers journeyed from the northwest to the heel of the boot; tasting, learning, and laughing every step of the way. Along with the incredible food and wine came lessons about local pride including very passionate football/soccer rivalries. (A Siena fan versus a Florence fan is a debate best watched from a safe distance!)

A favorite moment for many came at a peaceful villa near Lecce, where our group stayed amid olive trees and golden light. Each morning, we were greeted by Ada, our kind host. Even though we did not speak each other’s language, through smiles, gestures, and a translation app, we managed to communicate perfectly. Her generosity and joy set the tone for every day, and we left feeling full, not just from her breakfasts, but from her kindness.

With Thankful Hearts

This year has reminded us of the power of gratitude: for travel, for friendship, and for the grace that carries us through uncertain times. Whether in a quiet chapel on Iona, a bustling Italian market, or a long-awaited return to the Holy Land, we continue to find moments of brightness and connection.

As we look ahead to the journeys of 2026 and beyond, we do so with thankful hearts. We are grateful for you, our travelers, and for all the people and places that make these experiences so meaningful.

Thanks and Peace,

Sarah
