Tuesday, January 14 – Plan to arrive in Belize City in the early afternoon. We will transfer to Black Rock Lodge from the airport in Belize City. Black Rock Lodge is an eco-lodge located in the jungles of Belize. Each cabin has a private bathroom. Meals are served in an open-sided lodge. There are many on-site activities available to the guests. (Dinner on the way or at the lodge)

Wednesday, January 15 – After fresh and delicious morning breakfast at the lodge, we will ride in vans to the Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. Xunantunich was one of the largest cities ever built by the Maya. It was believed to be lost for centuries until a local villager stumbled came across it in the 1890’s. At the time, he thought he saw the ghost of an ancient Maya maiden descending “El Castillo” — the main pyramid at the complex. Many others have claimed to have spotted the woman over time and it is how Xunantunich got its name meaning “stone woman.” We will have lunch along the way. Overnight at Black Rock Lodge. (B,L,D)

Thursday, January 16 – Today is your choice. If you are feeling adventurous, then sign up for the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave Adventure. This tour departs at 7:30 am and is a full day tour. Friday, January 17 – This morning, you can wake up early and learn about the many species of birds around the Black Rock Lodge from the birding experts (optional tour). After breakfast, we will check out of the lodge and make our way back to Belize City to catch the Water Taxi to San Pedro. Once we arrive in San Pedro, you’ll be fee to explore the area. Dinner is on your own. We will recommend some restaurants around the hotel that are a hit with the locals! (B, L)
