Join us for our 2nd Annual Out of the Box Trip to Grand Turk Island in Turks and Caicos! Are you a womxn in ministry leadership and looking for a time apart for renewal, learning, and connection in a beautiful location? Join us for this time of relaxation, spiritual exploration, dwelling with others, exciting excursions, great food, sunshine, and so much more! We are also joined by Deacon Michelle Walka who will be guiding us in learning and practice around the themes of rest, discernment, and creative expression along the way.
Want to extend your trip? Join us for a pre-trip extension in Providenciales (January 4-6, 2025)! We provide you lodging in a shared condo/villa and you get to decide how you want to spend your time.
Meet Our Program & Practice Presenter
Michelle Walka (she/her) is an artist, spiritual director and founder of Beloved Art and Practice. She is also a rostered minister of Word and Service (deacon) within the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America). As the Director of Beloved Art and Practice, Michelle leads experiences centered in creative and contemplative prayer practices; providing space to dwell deeply with our own stories while paying attention to God’s Spirit in the midst. Michelle enjoys lingering with a good cup of coffee and many outdoor adventures with her husband, Keith, and their pup, Rosie.
Creativity and the arts continue to be a vital part of Michelle’s own healing and wellness journey. Her art is inspired not only by visually encountering her interior life through color and movement, but also by the beauty of the natural world. With this, she also finds great joy in creative practices with community; finding that these spaces beautifully acknowledge our collective humanity and are a subversive and powerful act of narrative sharing, healing, and restoration.

*We can book your airfare for you or you are welcome to book your own. We would like to work with you on your arrival and departure times so that we can best arrange for transfers to and from the airport. All flights arrive & depart from Providenciales International Airport (PLS).

Day 1: Monday, January 6
[Travel Day] Make your way to Providenciales airport, either by incoming flight or by booking the pre-trip extension. We will then fly to Grand Turk to check into our hotel for the week. (D)
Days 2-6: Tuesday - Saturday, January 7-11
[Daily Rhythms] Each day begins with a time of gathering, learning, and reflecting, led by our speaker Deacon Michelle. Breakfast is included at our hotel. Then the main part of the day is up to you! You can spend your day by the pool, on the beach, or exploring the area. Optional excursions will be available (prices vary for this, details to come later). We will gather together for our evening meal and some fellowship time. (B, D)
Day 7: Sunday, January 12
[Travel home day] We will fly to Providenciales airport in the morning. Then catch your flight home from there. (B)

Spend an extra 2 nights in Providenciales before the main event! Price includes a bed in a shared condo or villa and transportation to and from the airport. No programing or agenda. How you spend the time is up to you! We will meet up with the group on January 6 to fly to Grand Turk Island.
